 PREREQUISITES: If you are unable to add a Chemistry course you need, WebReg cannot verify that the prerequisite or corequisite for that course was met. Or, it may mean your transfer credit was not annotated to your UCI record. Fax, email or bring a copy of your transtript to the Chemistry Undergraduate Program Office in NS2 1202 prior to your enrollment in order to clear the prerequisite. Always include your ID number and name on any documentation you subtmit for verification. 
 Courses with corequisites may require you to add the corequisite requirement before adding the course. A complete listing of course prerequisites can be found at http://webster.reg.uci.edu:8800/cgi-bin/prrqcgi. 
 Enrolled students who do not meet the required prerequisites from the prior quarter will be dropped from the class roster by the Chemistry Department prior to the first week of classes. 
 NO ADDS OR GRADE OPTION CHANGES ALLOWED AFTER THE SECOND WEEK; NO DROPS ALLOWED AFTER THE SIXTH WEEK. NO LAB CHANGES AFTER WEEK 1. 
 The Chemistry Department will allow students who have earned Chemistry 1A credit via AP to enroll in the Summer Session Chemistry 1A at UCI in order to fulfill professional school admission requirements. NO CREDIT will be given for grades and units earned in this course. Choose the audit option when you enroll in the summer session. 
 REPEATING STUDENTS: 
 You will not have access to Chemistry courses you wish to repeat when your enrollment window initially opens. 
 1) You may not repeat a Chemistry course more than once during the academic year. You are encouraged to retake lower division Chemistry courses during Summer Session. We may restrict repeat student enrollment in the impacted Chemistry courses during the academic quarters. 
 2) Did your grade prevent you from advancing on in the series or to the next course level? Enroll at the adjustment period starting March 16, 2007, as space permits. 
 3) Receive a C-? Enroll on the first day of classes, April 2, 2007, as space permits. 
 4) You are ineligible to repeat a course if you received a passing grade of C or above. 
 IMPORTANT LABORATORY INFORMATION: 
 1) Safety glasses and lab aprons are required. You must bring these items to their first laboratory session. If you do not attend your first laboratory session will receive a zero grade for that week and will lose their space in the section. 
 2) Refer to the following websites for a list of course materials, changes, updates, and announcements: General Chemistry Laboratory Website http://www.eee.uci.edu/programs/gchem and Organic Chemistry Laboratory Website http://eee.uci.edu: 
 a) Choose course websites, b) Choose correct quarter, c) Choose Chemistry, d) Select Chem labs (i.e. 51LA, 51LB, 51LC) 
 3) A The $50.00 lab fee is NON-REFUNDABLE. If you switch sections during the first week of classes, be sure you officially change your enrollment before 5pm on April 6, 2007, or you will be double-billed for the lab fee. 
 4. University Extension students enrolled in a laboratory course do not pay the $50.00 lab fee.

 a) Open hours for the Spring quarter will be 9:00-11:30 Monday, Wednesday & Friday and 12:30-2:30 Tuesday & Thursday, 
 b)Open hours for the first week starting Monday, April 2, 2007. through Friday, April 6, 2007, will be 9:30-11:30 & 12:30-2:30. Monday through Friday.

 UPPER DIVISION REPEAT STUDENTS: 1) Chemistry majors attempting to repeat an upper division course in which they have received a grade of F may enroll at the adjustment period, March 16, 2007, as space permits. 2) Any other Chemistry majors with a C- or below (excluding F) may attempt to enroll on the first day of classes on Monday, April 2, 2007, as space permits. 
 Non-Majors restrictions will be lifted 48 hours after the last spring quarter enrollment window opens. 
 Electronic Homework for General Chemistry Lecture and Laboratory: 
 1. Problems with General Chemistry lecture electronic homework on McWeb? Send an email to McWeb@ps.uci.edu regarding your problem. 
 2. Problems with General Chemistry laboratory electronic homework on WebWork? Go to the Chemistry Lab website on EEE, choose the lab course you are enrolled in, choose electronic homework, and submit a problem report. 
  Chem   1A     GENERAL CHEMISTRY
 
    Prerequisites for Chem 1A are 1) a passing score on the UCI Chemistry Placement Exam within one year; or 2) a grade of C or better in Chem 1P (Preparation for General Chemistry) at UCI. The Chemistry Department does not accept preparatory courses from other academic institutions.
    Check with the Testing office (949-824-6207) or http://www.testingoffice.uci.edu for details about the Chemistry Exam.
    Students with grades below C in Chem 1P are able to re-take the Chemistry Placement Exam to qualify for Chem 1A.
    Concurrent enrollment in a Chem 1A lecture and a discussion associated with your lecture is required. Attendance for week 1 is mandatory.
