You will find the answers to your most frequently asked enrollment questions on this site.
 FRESHMEN SEMINARS
Designed for first-year students, Freshmen Seminars offer an exciting opportunity to broaden your academic horizons. These seminars are designed for first-year students. Please refer to the University Studies website for information about these quarterly seminars: http://www.freshmanseminar.uci.edu.
Prerequisites: If you are unable to add the Chemistry course you need on WebReg, it may mean the prerequisite for that course has not been met or we don't know about it.
Did you take a prerequisite at another institute? Fax, email, or bring a copy of your transcript to the Chemistry Department Undergraduate Program Office in NS2 1202 in order to clear your prerequisite prior to your enrollment in a chemistry course.
Enrolled students who do not meet the prerequisites from the prior quarter will be dropped from the class roster by the Chemistry Department. It is your responsibility to officially drop the course.
NO ADDS OR CHANGES ALLOWED AFTER THE 2ND WEEK.
NO DROPS ALLOWED AFTER THE 6TH WEEK.
NO LAB CHANGES AFTER WEEK 1.
TRANSFER STUDENTS AND STUDENTS WITH AP CREDIT:
Have a score of 4 or 5 on the College Board Advanced Placement Chemistry Examination? You do not take the Chemistry Placement Exam and are ineligible for enrollment in Chemistry 1A during the academic year. Students with AP credit exempting them from Chemistry 1A will have the choice of beginning with Chemistry 1B in Winter quarter or enrolling in Chemistry H2A, Honors General Chemistry, in the Fall quarter. The Chemistry Department will allow students who have earned Chemistry 1A credit via AP to enroll in the Summer Session Chemistry 1A at UCI in order to fulfill professional school admission requirements. NO CREDIT will be given for grades and units earned in this course. Choose the audit option when you enroll in the summer session.
Have a score of 3 or lower on the AP Chemistry exam?
You are required to take the Chemistry Placement exam.
Do you have transfer credit for the prerequisite course in chemistry? Fax, email, or bring a copy of your transcript to the Chemistry Department Undergraduate Program Office in NS2 1202.
 REPEAT STUDENTS:
You will not have access to the Chemistry courses you wish to repeat when your enrollment window initially opens.
 1) You may not repeat a Chemistry course more than once during the academic year. You are encouraged to retake lower division Chemistry courses during summer session I & II.
 2) Did your grade prevent you from advancing in the series or to the next course level? Enroll at the adjustment period starting on FRIDAY, December, 15, 2006 at 5pm.
 3) Receive a C-? You may try to enroll on the first day of classes, Friday, January 5, 2007. Enrollment will be based on space availability. You are strongly encouraged to retake lower division Chemistry courses during summer session I & II.
 IMPORTANT LABORATORY INFORMATION:
 1) Safety glasses and lab aprons are required. You must bring these items to your first laboratory session. Safety glasses and lab aprons are required. You must bring these items to your first laboratory session. If you do not attend your first laboratory session, you will receive a zero grade for that week and lose your space in the section.
 2) Refer to the following web sites for a list of course materials, changes, updates and announcements: General Chemistry Laboratory web site http://eee.uci.edu/programs/gchem and Organic Chemistry Laboratory web site http://eee.uci.edu.
 a) Choose course websites. b) Choose correct quarter. c) Choose Chemistry. d) Select Chem 51L labs (i.e. 51LA, 51LB, 51LC)
 3) A NON-REFUNDABLE $50.00 lab fee will be added to your Zot Bill starting at 5pm on Friday at the end of the first week of classes, January 12, 2007. If you switch sections during the first week of classes, be sure you officially change your enrollment before 5pm on January 12, 2007, or you will be double-billed for the lab fee.
 4) University Extension students enrolled in a laboratory course do not pay the $50.00 lab fee.
